I hereby decree that any usage of the term, “first lady” shall be considered sexist and misogynistic and require that anyone associated with the campaign who uses the phrase must resign immediately. Oh, wait. Senator Obama uses it frequently? Oh well, I guess it’s okay then. It’s okay to diminish the accomplishments of a woman based on the historical assumption that the president’s wife is only capable of hosting tea parties and decorating bedrooms.
A brilliant woman who happens to marry a successful man can never rise above the stereotype of a subservient wife. Never. Never ever.
